Checked 25 October 2026 against each provider's own pricing page (see "Source"). The order isn't a ranking: our featured partner comes first, then the other accounts we cover. We may earn commission or a referral reward from the providers labelled Featured partner, Partner or Refer a friend scheme. We include accounts that don't pay us so the comparison is complete.

Tide is our featured partner, so we cover it in depth: how the Tide promo code STARTUP200 works, how to use it as a Tide referral code at sign-up, what the account costs, and how your money is protected.

Method
The same checks for every account, partner or not.
Fees, protection and offer conditions come from each provider's own pricing pages and terms, never from other review sites.
Every account is checked against the same features on the same date, and each figure links to its source.
We watch for changes to terms and fees, log every update, and say when something isn't clear.

Start with how your business uses money: how many transfers you make, whether you pay in cash, whether you need a branch, and whether you want your money with a bank covered by the FSCS. Then compare monthly fees and any sign-up offer. The filters in our comparison table help you narrow it down.
Money in a UK bank account is protected by the FSCS up to £120,000 per depositor. E-money accounts are safeguarded instead, which protects your money if the provider fails but isn't FSCS cover. The "Protection" column shows which applies.
Yes. Tide promo code STARTUP200 can earn up to £200 cashback: £75 after £100 card spend in 30 days, plus £125 for holding £5,000 in an Instant Saver for 30 days. Full conditions.

Yes. Use code STARTUP200 when you register and meet the same £75 and £125 conditions. Tide company formation guide.
It isn't a legal requirement, but check your personal account's terms, as many don't allow business use. A separate account also makes bookkeeping and tax returns simpler. See GOV.UK's guide to setting up as a sole trader.
Usually photo ID, proof of address and details of your business. Limited companies also need their Companies House registration. Each provider sets its own checks, so read their eligibility page before you apply.
We don't give tax advice. Ask your accountant how a sign-up reward should be recorded in your business accounts.
Some providers pay us when you open an account through our links. They're labelled "Featured partner" or "Partner". We include accounts that don't pay us too. Disclosure.
