How we compare accounts and check offers

Every offer claim on this site comes from the provider's own published terms. Here's how we check them.

Our process

  1. We read the provider's key terms in full - not other websites or adverts. For Tide, that means the STARTUP200 key terms, Tide's general promotion terms, the Instant Saver summary box, the pricing page and the eligibility page.
  2. We write the conditions next to the offer. If a reward needs spending, a deposit or a deadline, we say so wherever the reward is mentioned.
  3. We flag gaps. If the terms don't answer something, such as how a holding period is counted, we say so and suggest the cautious approach.
  4. We re-check before we update. We check the provider's terms again before any page is changed, and show the date figures were last checked.
  5. A person approves every change before it's published. Automated checks can tell us something has changed, but they can't publish.

Some providers pay us when people open an account through our links or codes. Tide and Capital on Tap are currently our featured partners. That means:

  • Tide's offer is shown first and more prominently than other accounts, and is labelled "Featured partner".
  • Being a partner doesn't change the facts we publish about any account. Fees, protection and conditions come from each provider's own documents.
  • Where we order accounts by anything other than featured placement, we say what the order is based on.
  • We don't call any account "best" overall. We say which kinds of business an account suits and which it doesn't, including when that's not Tide.

Our affiliate disclosure lists every provider that may pay us.

How we compare accounts

  • We compare the same features for every account: monthly fee, included transfers, cash deposit options, card fees, protection (FSCS or e-money safeguarding), sign-up offer and who it suits.
  • We check all accounts in a comparison on the same date and show that date.
  • Each figure links to the provider's source so you can check it yourself.

What the Tide terms don't currently specify

  • Whether the £5,000 Instant Saver balance must be held continuously, and whether the 30 days count from opening the business account or the saver.
  • A full list of eligible merchants for the £100 spending condition.
  • Whether the opening day counts as day 0 or day 1 of the 30-day and 7-day windows.

Where these matter, our guides explain the safest way to make sure you still qualify.
