- New Tide members only. You must pass Tide's identity and business checks. One reward per business.
- Enter STARTUP200 during sign-up, or within 7 days of signing up. If the code box is empty when you apply, type it in.
- Tide says payment can take 6–8 weeks after you meet the conditions. Rewards can be withheld or reversed, for example if a purchase is refunded.
- Tide decides who is accepted and whether you qualify. Cashback isn't guaranteed.

What is the Tide promo code?
STARTUP200 is a partner promotion code. Tide publishes its own key terms for it, titled "STARTUP200 – Partnership Promotional Offer", with a start date of 6 May 2025 and an end date of "Ongoing". It's open to new Tide members who open a Tide business current account and meet the spending and savings conditions below.
You'll sometimes see STARTUP200 called a Tide referral code, because it goes in the same box when you sign up. Whatever it's called, the Tide promo code works the same way. Our Tide referral code guide shows exactly where to enter it.
The headline figure is "up to £200" because it's the total of two rewards with separate conditions*. Plenty of businesses will only qualify for the £75 part, and that's fine: the £125 part is optional*. *T&Cs apply

Work out your Tide promo code deadlines
The £75 part: spending £100 on your Tide card
To earn the first £75, spend at least £100 on your Tide card within 30 days of opening your current account*. Tide's key terms describe this as spending "with eligible merchants". Tide's general promotion terms say rewards are earned only on genuine card purchases, and list things that don't count, including: *T&Cs apply
- bank transfers, deposits and top-ups
- cash withdrawals
- gift cards and cheques
- tax and other government payments
- fees, including currency conversion fees
- subscriptions and other repeat purchases
- purchases of securities, and disputed payments
The simplest way to qualify is to put ordinary business costs on the card: stationery, software you'd buy anyway as a one-off, equipment or travel. Keep the receipts. Don't buy things you don't need just to hit £100, and remember a refunded purchase may not count.
The £125 part: the Tide Instant Saver condition
The second part of the Tide promo code offer pays £125 if you also use Tide's business savings account*. To be safe, do all three of these: *T&Cs apply
- Open a Tide Instant Saver.
- Pay in at least £5,000 within 7 days of opening your Tide account.
- Keep at least £5,000 in the Instant Saver for the first 30 days.
Why we suggest the cautious route. Tide words the deadline slightly differently in different places. The STARTUP200 key terms count 7 days from opening your Tide account and 30 days from account opening. Other Tide offer wording counts 7 days from opening the Instant Saver. If you open and fund the saver within 7 days of your business account opening, and don't let the balance drop below £5,000 for 30 days, you meet every version.
About the Instant Saver itself, from Tide's summary box dated 15 October 2026:
- It's a variable-rate, instant-access savings account. Withdrawals go only to your nominated account.
- Introductory rates last 4 months. After that, the rate depends on your Tide plan. Check the current summary box (PDF) for today's rates.
- It's for UK-resident sole traders and limited companies with an account holder aged 18 or over.
Only go for the £125 if your business genuinely has £5,000 it can leave untouched for a month*. Don't move money you'll need for wages, suppliers or tax. *T&Cs apply
Using the Tide promo code when you register a company
If you're starting a limited company, you can register it with Tide for a one-off fee of £14.99, which includes a Tide business account. Formation customers can also earn the cashback if they use the Tide promo code STARTUP200 and meet the same £75 and £125 conditions*. What Tide's £14.99 company registration includes. *T&Cs apply
The registration fee and the cashback conditions are separate. The 30-day spending window and 7-day savings window start when your Tide business account opens, not when you pay for the registration.
Who can use the Tide promo code?
According to Tide's eligibility guidance, you can apply if you're a sole trader, freelancer or director of a limited company, aged 18 or over, with a valid UK mobile number and a phone registered to the UK App Store or Google Play.
- Sole traders and freelancers need a UK home address and must be registered with HMRC.
- Limited company directors can live in the UK or overseas, and the company must be registered at Companies House.
You'll need to verify your identity, address and business, including a selfie. Tide doesn't accept some businesses, including charities, Community Interest Companies, crowdfunding, gambling, crypto exchanges, money service businesses, shell companies and used-car sales. See Tide's full list.
The Tide promo code is for new members only. It can't be added to an existing Tide account, and there's one reward per business.
Is the Tide promo code worth it for your business?
It depends on how you'll use the account in the first month. Three examples:
| Your situation | What you'd do | Cashback you could get |
|---|---|---|
| New sole trader, small first-month costs, no spare savings | Spend £100 on the Tide card in 30 days | £75* |
| Limited company with cash reserves of £5,000 or more | Spend £100 on the card and hold £5,000 in an Instant Saver for 30 days | Up to £200* |
| Business that can't spare £5,000 for a month | Spend £100 on the card; skip the saver | £75* |
Before you apply, check the account itself suits you. Tide's Free plan has no monthly fee and includes 5 bank transfers a month, which is enough for some businesses and not for others. Our Tide business account review covers the plans, fees and protection in detail.
A worked example: using the Tide promo code from day one
Here's how the Tide promo code plays out for a new limited company whose account opens on 2 November 2026. The dates come from the calculator above.
- 2 November: the Tide account opens. STARTUP200 was entered at sign-up.
- 3 November: the director opens a Tide Instant Saver and moves £5,000 of the company's reserves into it.
- 5 November: the company pays for £120 of office supplies and software on the Tide card.
- By 9 November: the 7-day window for funding the Instant Saver closes. It's already done.
- By 2 December: the 30-day window for card spending ends. The £100 target was met in week one. The £5,000 has stayed in the saver throughout.
- Next 6–8 weeks: Tide pays the Tide promo code cashback into the business account.
The pattern to copy: fund the saver early, spend on the card early, and don't touch the £5,000 for the first month.
Mistakes that can cost you the Tide promo code cashback
- Forgetting the code. You have 7 days after signing up to get the Tide promo code applied. After that, it's too late.
- Counting transfers as spending. Moving money from the Tide account doesn't count towards the £100. Only card purchases do.
- Paying a refundable deposit. If a purchase is refunded, Tide can reverse the reward.
- Funding the saver late. The £5,000 needs to be in the Instant Saver within 7 days of opening your account.
- Dipping below £5,000. Keep at least £5,000 in the saver for the first 30 days, even for a day.
- Using an existing account. The Tide promo code is for new members only.
- Using two codes. Tide's terms say offers can't be combined unless the terms say so.
- Closing the account early. Tide can withhold or reverse rewards if an account is closed.
The Tide promo code for different businesses
Sole traders and freelancers
Sole traders can use the Tide promo code if they have a UK home address and are registered with HMRC. The £75 part is usually the easy win: most sole traders spend £100 on business costs within a month*. The £125 part only makes sense if you have £5,000 of business savings you won't need for a month*. Read GOV.UK's guide to setting up as a sole trader if you haven't registered yet. *T&Cs apply
Limited companies
Directors of limited companies registered at Companies House can use the Tide promo code. Companies with cash reserves are best placed to earn the full £200, because the Instant Saver condition needs £5,000 held for 30 days*. *T&Cs apply
New businesses and startups
If you haven't registered your company yet, you can register it with Tide for £14.99 and use the Tide promo code at the same time. See our Tide company formation guide.
How the Tide promo code compares with other business account offers
Not every business account pays you to join. On the date we checked, these were the sign-up offers available on the accounts we compare:
| Account | Sign-up offer | What you need to do |
|---|---|---|
| Tide | Up to £200 with Tide promo code STARTUP200* | £100 card spend in 30 days; £5,000 in an Instant Saver for 30 days for the extra £125* |
| Mettle | £50 through Mettle's Refer a Business scheme | A code from an existing Mettle customer, entered in the app after one card payment, within 30 days |
| Zempler Bank | No sign-up bonus | - |
| Revolut Business | No sign-up bonus for new customers | - |
A bigger bonus shouldn't be the only reason to choose an account. Compare fees, protection and features in our business account comparison before you decide.
Tide promo code checklist
Run through this list before and after you apply with the Tide promo code:
- I'm new to Tide and my business meets Tide's eligibility rules.
- I've entered STARTUP200 on the code screen, or I'm within 7 days of signing up.
- I've noted the date my Tide account opened.
- I've put at least £100 of genuine business purchases on my Tide card within 30 days.
- If I want the extra £125, I've paid £5,000 into a Tide Instant Saver within 7 days of opening*. *T&Cs apply
- I've kept at least £5,000 in the Instant Saver for the first 30 days.
- I've kept receipts and a screenshot of the code screen.
- I'm keeping the account open while I wait 6–8 weeks for payment.
After the Tide promo code cashback is paid
Once the cashback lands in your Tide business account, it's yours to use like any other money in the account. The Instant Saver is instant access, so after the first 30 days you can move the £5,000 back to your current account or leave it earning interest at your plan's rate. If you only needed the Free plan to claim the Tide promo code, you can stay on it: there's no requirement to upgrade.
Keep an eye on your plan's limits. On the Free plan, the number of included bank transfers is limited, so if your business grows, compare the paid plans in our Tide review.
